The Pratap house was calm that afternoon. Everyone was busy in their own way. Naina and Pratibha were sitting together, sipping tea. Prakash was watching TV while Veer had gone to the village for some work.

Suddenly a voice came from outside.
“Daak aayi hai!”

Prakash got up and went outside to take the letter. When he came back inside, Pratibha looked at him curiously.

“Kiski daak hai?”

Prakash glanced at the envelope and smiled.
“Tumhari behen ki hai.”

Pratibha’s face lit up with excitement.
“Jaldi kholo na aur dekho kya hai usme!”

Prakash chuckled at her impatience and opened the letter. Inside was a wedding invitation.

“Arre… Ramesh ki shaadi ka card hai,” he said.

“Sachi?” Pratibha almost jumped in excitement. “Kab hai shaadi?”

Prakash looked at the card carefully.
“Ek hafte baad. Aur likha hai ki humein teen din pehle hi pahunchna hai.”

Pratibha smiled widely and immediately went towards the phone.
“Mujhe meri behen ko phone karna hai!”

By evening, Veer returned home. Everyone was sitting in the lobby discussing the wedding.

As soon as Veer sat down, Naina quietly got up and went to the kitchen. She came back with a glass of water and handed it to him.

Veer took the glass from her.
“Thank you.”

Then he looked at everyone.
“Aap log kya discuss kar rahe hain?”

Pratibha smiled.
“Ramesh ki shaadi ho rahi hai beta.”

“Sach mein?” Veer asked in surprise.

“Haan,” Pratibha replied happily. “Aaj hi uska invitation aaya hai daak mein.”

“Shaadi kab hai?”

Prakash answered, “Ek hafte mein. Aur unhone humein teen din pehle bulaya hai. Isliye agar koi kaam ho toh pehle hi nipta lena. Phir hum sab unke gaon jayenge.”

Veer nodded. “Theek hai.”

Later that night, Veer was sitting on the bed while Naina was applying lotion on her hands.

After a moment she spoke softly,
“Suniye…”

Veer looked at her.
“Sunaiye.”

Naina hesitated a little.
“Wahan shaadi mein… kaun kaun hoga? Matlab… jin logon se main hamari shaadi mein mili thi… shayad woh mujhe bhool gaye honge.”

She said the last part a little embarrassed.

Veer smiled reassuringly.
“Arre koi baat nahi. Agar bhool bhi gaye toh kya hua? Tum unse baar baar thodi mili ho. Sirf ek hi baar toh mile the.”

Then he added gently,
“Waise bhi mujhe sab yaad hai. Main wahan tumhe bata dunga kaun kaun hai.”

Naina smiled at him.

After finishing with the lotion, she walked towards the bed and sat down beside him.

Veer asked,
“Shaadi ke liye kapde hain na tumhare paas?”

Naina nodded.
“Haan. Hamari shaadi mein mujhe itne kapde mile the… abhi tak pehne bhi nahi. Wahi pehen lungi.”

“Theek hai,” Veer said.

After that, both of them switched off the lights and went to sleep.

After three days

Veer parked the car near the fields beside Ramesh’s house. The house was filled with wedding hustle and bustle.

Everyone got down from the car and walked inside.

As soon as they entered, Pratibha looked around and called out loudly,
“Suman! Kahan hai tu?”

Hearing her voice, Suman came running from inside. The moment she saw Pratibha, she hugged her tightly.

“Arre kaisi hai tu? Kitne time baad mil rahe hain hum!” she said happily.
Pratibha smiled.

“Main theek hoon. Tu bata.”

Meanwhile, Veer and Naina stepped forward and bent down to touch Suman’s feet.

Suman blessed them warmly.
“Khush raho beta.”

Then she looked at them carefully and said teasingly,

“Shaadi wale din toh dono bahut ache lag rahe the… par aaj toh aur bhi pyaare lag rahe ho saath mein.”

Both Veer and Naina blushed.

Suman laughed seeing their reaction.
“Arre dekho toh, kitna sharma rahe hain! Maine bas itna sa hi toh kaha.”

Then she looked at Pratibha
mischievously and said,
“Iss rate pe toh lagta hai tujhe  teri poti ya pota dekhne ko jaldi nahi milenge ”

Hearing this, Veer and Naina blushed even more while both sisters burst out laughing.

Soon everyone started meeting the other family members as well. The house was full of relatives and cheerful noise.

After a while, Veer’s cousin Ritika came running towards them.

“Veer bhaiya!” she said excitedly.

Then she took Veer and Naina upstairs.

“Yeh aap dono ka room hai,” she said while opening the door.

Then she added mischievously,
“Aur tension mat lijiye… isse awaaz bahar nahi jaati.”

Before they could react, she giggled and ran away.

Veer and Naina stood there awkwardly.

After a moment, Veer quietly closed the door and kept their bags near the cupboard.

Then he turned towards her.
“Aap pehle fresh ho jaiye… main wait kar leta hoon.”

Naina nodded and went inside the bathroom.

Veer sat on the bed waiting.

A little later, Naina came out wearing a soft pink saree. Her hair was slightly wet from washing her face.

She looked at him and said softly,
“Aap bhi fresh ho jaiye… main tab tak neeche jaake dekh leti hoon agar koi kaam ho.”

Veer nodded.
“Theek hai.”

At night, the men were sitting in the veranda of the house, chatting and laughing, while the women were busy in the kitchen preparing dinner for everyone.

After a while, Ritika came outside and said loudly,
“Dinner ready ho gaya hai! Aap log haath dho lijiye.”

All the men nodded and went to wash their hands before sitting at the dining table.

Meanwhile, Naina came out of the kitchen with Nidhi bhabhi. Both of them started placing the salad bowls and utensils on the dining table.

Soon everyone was seated.

Suddenly Pawan, Ramesh’s father, looked around and said,
“Arre Veer kahan hai? Usko bhi bulao. Sab mardon ke saath hi kha lega.”

Naina nodded quietly and went upstairs to call Veer.

She entered the room and saw Veer sitting on the bed, talking to someone on the phone.

Naina gestured with her hands that dinner was ready.

Veer, still on the call, shook his head lightly.

Naina frowned and silently asked him what he meant.

Veer pointed folded his fingers and placed them near his mouth and then pointed his fingers towards her .

Naina just looked at him in confusion.
After a moment, Veer ended the call.

Naina spoke softly,
“Aap khana kyun nahi kha rahe?”

Veer looked at her and said calmly,
“Humne aapke saath khana hai, Naina.”

Naina blinked in surprise.
“Par… baaki sab abhi kha rahe hain.”

Veer shrugged slightly.
“Koi baat nahi. Hum apni patni ke saath hi khana khayenge.”

Naina looked down shyly.
“Par main neeche kya kahungi?”

Veer smiled teasingly.
“Keh dijiye… ki main apni biwi ke saath hi khaunga.”

Naina nodded shyly and walked downstairs while Veer watched her go, smiling to himself.
.
.
When Naina entered the kitchen again, Pratibha looked at her.
“Naina beta, kya kaha Veer ne?”

Naina replied softly,
“Unhone kaha woh… hum sab ke saath baad mein kha lenge.”

Before anyone else could speak, Ritika quickly teased,
“Hum sab ke saath… ya sirf aapke saath?”

Nidhi laughed and joined in,
“Haan haan, woh bhi bata do.”

Naina’s cheeks turned red and she looked down shyly.

Suman chuckled and said,
“Arre bas bas, itna mat satao usse.”
Naina looked up, thinking the teasing had stopped.

But Suman added playfully,
“Aisa na ho Veer aa kar bole — meri biwi ko pareshan mat karo.”

Everyone burst out laughing.

Naina flushed even more and quickly picked up the basket of chapatis.

Without saying anything, she walked out to the dining area to serve them, escaping their teasing.

The men finished their dinner and got up from the table. Now it was the women’s turn to sit and eat.

Pratibha looked at Naina and said,
“Jao beta, Veer ko bula lao. Ab woh bhi khana kha lega.”

Naina nodded and quietly went upstairs to their room.

Veer was sitting on the bed. When she entered, she spoke softly,
“Khana kha lijiye.”

Veer nodded and stood up.

Both of them walked downstairs together.

The moment they entered the dining area, Ritika grinned and said loudly,
“Lo ji, aa gaye star couple!”

Both Veer and Naina instantly looked down, embarrassed.

Naina went to sit beside Ritika and Nidhi, but before she could properly sit down, Ritika nudged her teasingly.
“Arre bhabhi, idhar kyun? Jaiye na bhaiya ke paas baithiye. Unhone khana aapke saath hi khana hai.”

Naina lowered her gaze shyly and slowly got up. She walked towards Veer and sat beside him.

Everyone started serving themselves and began eating.

Naina’s eyes fell on the paneer sabzi kept a little far from her reach. She looked at it for a moment but didn’t say anything.

Veer noticed it immediately.
Without saying a word, he picked up the bowl and placed it near her.

Naina looked at him and gave him a small smile.
Veer smiled back.

But the moment this happened, everyone sitting at the table suddenly went,
“Uhhhhmmm… uhhhhmmm…”
teasing them together.

Both Veer and Naina became awkward instantly, lowering their eyes while everyone laughed.

The dinner continued like that, with Veer and Naina getting teased every now and then, while they both quietly ate their food.
